Dream of Serpents

I dream of serpents, serpents of the sea.A certain sea, oh, of serpents I dream.Long, transparent, and in their bellies they carryall that they can snatch away from love.

Oh, I kill one and a larger one appears,oh, with more hellfire burning inside!

I don't fit in its mouth, it tries to swallow me.But it chokes on the trident of my temple.I think it's gone crazy; I give it a dove to chewand I poison it with my goodness.

Oh, I kill one and a larger one appears,oh, with more hellfire burning inside!

This one finally devours me,and as I pass through its esophagus I'm thinking of what's to come.But I destroy it when I reach its stomach,and I present it with a verse of truth.
